Used Texas DPS to sign up to vote? Double-check It worked.
Do the DPS Double Check
If you registered to vote or updated your voter information through the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), there’s one thing to do right now: Check Your Voter Registration name, address and status.
Software glitch delayed some Texas voter registrations
When you renew or update your driver license or state ID online with DPS, you can register to vote or update your registration at the same time. Handy. But some of those records never made it to county election offices.
Here's what happened: A software update from a DPS vendor in October 2025 cut off parts of some voter records. Because they were incomplete, the state couldn't process them, so they never reached counties. The glitch is fixed. DPS resent the complete records, and counties are working on updating their voter rolls now.
A delayed record doesn't mean you're not registered
There's no confirmed statewide count of affected voters yet. And a delayed record doesn't always mean a missing voter. Some were new registrations. Some were address changes. Some were duplicates. Some people registered another way after using DPS. So signing up through DPS doesn't mean your registration automatically has a problem.
The easy way to know? Check.
Here's your DPS double-check:
Look yourself up on the My Voter Portal. Confirm your status AND your address.
